Ordering Recommendation

May be useful for the evaluation of rare disorders such as primary fibrinolysis. For evaluating coagulopathies (eg, disseminated intravascular coagulation), D-Dimer (0030057) is the preferred test.

Lt. blue (sodium citrate).

Specimen Preparation

Transfer 1 mL platelet-poor plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Unacceptable Conditions

Serum. EDTA plasma, clotted or hemolyzed specimens.

Stability

Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 1 month at -20°C, 1 year at -70°C.
